Our philosophy is simple: immerse yourself in meaningful medical experiences or go and enjoy the sun. No time wasted standing around like a spare part and no regrets – just pure, purposeful learning or well-deserved relaxation.
You will be located in either Puerto’s General hospital or Angel Del Mar private hospital, both of which are tertiary centres or in a number of specialist clinics dotted around the town.

Hospital supervision
Aside from designing your elective, our other priority is ensuring you are supported and safe on your medical placement abroad so that you can enjoy the experience as much as possible.
Our hand-picked, English-speaking supervisors aren't just experienced professionals; they're your dedicated mentors. They'll know you by name and know of your preferred balance of medical experience before you even set foot in Puerto Escondido.
But we don't stop there. Only one call away, Dr. Josué, our co-founder, will be your guardian angel. With his extensive network and deep connections throughout the medical community, he's your go-to for any concerns or special requests.
Ultrasound classes
Picture this: It’s 5 AM on your first night shift and you’re eyes are starting to feel heavy. You suddenly get a bleep that wakes you up. “Doctor, we have a sick patient and cannot get blood, please can you come and use the ultrasound?”.
You now feel awake with nausea and anxiety. Despite 5 years of medical school, no one has ever taught you how to use this essential piece of equipment.
This scenario is the reality you are likely to face when you start. Ultrasound-guided cannulation and venesection are essential skills you will be expected to perform.
This is why we run free ultrasound classes to all Mexican Elective students! We believe that your first time handling an ultrasound shouldn't be in a high-pressure situation with a sick patient in front of you, but in a safe and controlled environment with your learning as the priority. Through our hands-on training sessions, run by our experienced co-founder Dr. Josué David Martínez Ríos, you'll develop the confidence and competence to perform these procedures calmly and effectively without anxiety or fear.
Not only will you gain valuable experience in venous access, but you will also learn to do abdominal and hepatic ultrasounds just for fun!
